In this wooden box, closed by a glass lid, the space is defined by two pieces of wood: one is fixed above, as if on the ceiling, and painted blue, like clouds; the other is stuck to the bottom, as if on the floor. Between them, the head of the sun is applied to the back wall, its rays extended with pencil lines. In this space, Joseph Cornell suspends from a metal bar a strap with the photo of an old reproduction of a baby praying and a gold ring fixed to a golden cord. On the floor, there is a cube with two faces showing the letter F and a mouse that is part of a game. A piece of paper is cut up and glued to indicate the title, which is repeated on the upper right-hand side. Every observer feels obliged to find a meaning for this miniature theatre scene, but they do so in vain. AC
