Book launch: Nicolás Paris

Book launch: Nicolás Paris

The book Four variations on nothing or talking about that which has no name is being published to coincide with the eponymous exhibition by Nicolás Paris, on show at Museu Coleção Berardo until 3 April 2016.

Filipa Oliveira, curator of the exhibition, who also developed the concept of the book together with the artist, reveals the specific idea behind it: ‘We wanted to make a book, not a catalogue. A manual that can be used by everyone, not only by artists or art lovers. A handbook gathering  a digest of key knowledge to, in this case, encourage the reader to engage ideas about art and education’.

With this in mind, the book compiles written statements by more than fifty authors, each focusing on words that are key to understanding the artist’s work. Over its 176 pages the book links these concepts to numerous reproductions of works by Nicolás Paris, in a way that replicates the structure of the exhibition.
Book design by Barbara says.... An English version of the book will be distributed widely by Motto.

The launch will take place in the museum’s amphitheatre at 6.30pm on 11 February, and will feature a conversation between Pedro Lapa, Director of Museu Coleção Berardo, Cláudia Castelo and António Silveira Gomes from Barbara says..., and Filipa Oliveira. Admission is free, subject to availability.

Special price at the launch: 15,00 €
