The centenary of the birth of Maria Helena Vieira da Silva (1908-1992) was the theme for this exhibition curated by Eric Corne and co-organised with the Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderna (IVAM) in Spain.
The works presented, one hundred and twenty in total, amongst which six previously unseen pieces by Vieira da Silva, illustrate the profound friendship she developed with the Uruguyan painter Joaquín Torres-García (1874-1949). The catalogue of the exhibition juxtaposes and interlaces twenty years of Torres-García's work with that of Vieira da Silva, balanced by the pictorial structure they both shared despite the thirty years separating them.

Co-published by the Museu Coleção Berardo and IVAM.
