Greta Knutson, a Swede, arrived in Paris at the beginning of the 1920s to study with André Lhote, becoming his disciple. She was a painter, and also an art critic, novelist and poet. She met Tzara in 1924 and married him the following year. Linked to the surrealists through her husband, she took part in many surrealist games during the 1930s. She published poems in the group’s magazine, Le Surréalisme au service de la Révolution [Surrealism in the service of the revolution].
