SEMINAR a constellation of objects, spaces and people
When, in the context of documenta 4 in Kassel, Bazon Brock, a German philosopher and art historian close to Joseph Beuys and Wolf Vostell and a student of Theodor Adorno, created the Besucherschule (Visitors' School) in 1968, a certain concept of mediation was also born. These so-called "reception schools" (developed until 1992) germinated within an exhibition and aimed at creating a channel of communication between an artwork and its audiences through the "action teaching" method, in which the seminar format was adopted as a participatory investigative process.
Following the happening-exhibition A constellation is an invitation, part of the project Constellations: a choreography of minimal gestures, inaugurated at Museu Coleção Berardo in 2019, a Brockian Seminar will be held featuring a table-device, a set of objects and various people (guests and participants from the general public).
The Curatorial Studio for Research in Museums assumes the museum space and the exhibition format as a space for historical, cultural, political, and educational inclusion, promoting a set of conceptual disarticulations and a series of exercises of an investigative and laboratorial nature. Curatorship which employs the constellatory model focusses on the creation of zones of contact (play-areas) and the implementation of transdiscursive structures of connection, in a spatiotemporal dynamic which is understood to be ephemeral and is determined by a constant flow of things. This is its first such Seminar.
