The remit of the Fundação de Arte Moderna e Contemporânea – Colecção Berardo is to create, manage and organise the Museu Coleção Berardo de Arte Moderna e Contemporânea housed in the Centro Cultural de Belém. The purpose of this public-private partnership is to combine the state’s desire to create a museum of modern and contemporary art with the entrepreneurial spirit of the collector.
