As a company dedicated to the interactive entertainment industry, in particular the manufacture and distribution of hardware and software, Nintendo has developed an educational tool called Art Academy, which teaches its users to draw by means of a simple and practical art course.

It was in this context that the Museu Coleção Berardo and Nintendo established a solid framework of mutual cooperation in 2010 with a series of joint measures and with the important common aim of divulging modern and contemporary art to a younger audience through the use of Art Academy.

Since the beginning of 2011, therefore, Nintendo has supported the Museu Coleção Berardo by providing the Educational Department's workshops with Nintendo DS consoles equipped with the Art Academy software and contributing to a new approach to understanding art. The course run by the Museu Coleção Berardo, which uses Art Academy, provides users with the necessary lessons and materials to begin their journey through the arts. Without losing contact with the history of painting, Art Academy is a gateway to the future. Attendance on the course can afford an entry into this world through experimenting with the different lessons provided by the software.

As part of the partnership established between the Museu Coleção Berardo and Nintendo, since the beginning of 2011 the museum's Educational Department has included amongst its activities workshops that teach drawing and painting using Art Academy. Nintendo has thus benefitted from associating Art Academy with the Museu Coleção Berardo brand, granting it a seal of quality that is recognised throughout Portugal.
