Opening of the exhibition "Line, Form and Colour – Works from the Berardo Collection"

The President and the Administration Board of Fundação de Arte Moderna e Contemporânea – Coleção Berardo, and the Direction of Museu Coleção Berardo, invite you for the opening of the exhibition Line, Form and Colour – Works from the Berardo Collection, on March 21st, Wednesday, at 7:30 p.m. (Free Admission)

This exhibition is focused on the analysis of an assemblage of works from the Berardo Collection, in which the artists freely and creatively use line, form and colour – elements which are intrinsically linked to our lives, to everything we see, touch and feel, and can be considered the main building blocks of abstract art since the beginning of the 20th century.

Starting with the radical proposals of Malevich, Mondrian, Josef Albers and Ad Reinhardt, we analyse abstract art and its innumerable expressive possibilities, through the set of concepts, intuitions and feelings, which the artists explore and that trigger such diverse emotions and interpretations, thus making them emancipating and renouncing the messages that are imposed on us.
Works by Josef Albers, Fernando Calhau, Alan Charlton, Noronha da Costa, José Pedro Croft, Ian Davenport, Fernanda Fragateiro, Al Held, Gary Hume, Ann Veronica Janssens, Peter Joseph, Yves Klein, Imi Knoebel, José Loureiro, Kazimir Malevich, John McCracken, Ana Mendieta, Piet Mondrian, Bruce Nauman, Ad Reinhardt, Pedro Cabrita Reis, António Sena, Ângelo de Sousa, Frank Stella, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Cy Twombly and Victor Pires Vieira.

Curated by Rita Lougares and Jorge André Catarino.
The exhibition is on view until September 16th, 2018.
