Opening of the No Place Like Home exhibition
On 28 February, Museu Coleção Berardo will be opening the exhibition No Place Like Home, celebrating the one-hundredth anniversary of Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain, considered his most iconic work and a landmark in the history of 20th century art. No Place Like Home examines how artists over the last one hundred years have appropriated everyday objects in their works, transforming and subverting the domestic functions and meanings of these objects.
No Place Like Home has been organised by the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, and curated by Dr. Adina Kamien-Kazhdan. It includes works by a number of different artists, from different generations and different movements, presented in museum galleries transformed into quasi homes that, based on a confrontation with something new and unexpected, lead us to reflect on the familiar, displacement and the itinerancy of artists in contemporary societies.
This reflection is undoubtedly one of the great legacies of Marcel Duchamp, the artist to whom we pay tribute here.
The exhibition will be open until 3 June 2018.
